Chicago’s biggest youth-led back-to-school celebration is back!
Join Chicago Emerging Stars on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Cole (Nat King) Park for our 4th Annual Back-to-School Bash & Work and Wellness Fair, a free community event created by young people, built for community, and powered by opportunity. This event is more than a back-to-school giveaway. It is a youth-led community impact experience designed to help students and families feel prepared, supported, celebrated, and connected before the new school year begins.
What started in 2023 as a small backpack giveaway personally funded by our founder, Jaqueza Thomas, at 18 years old has grown into one of Chicago’s largest youth-led back-to-school initiatives. Over the years, the Bash has grown from serving just over 100 youth and families to welcoming thousands of attendees, distributing school supplies, connecting families to resources, and creating a safe, joyful space centered…
