Last Thursday, something powerful happened inside Leo High School.
Over 100 young people and community members came together for Real Talk: A Youth Conversation on Community + Safety, an evening filled with honesty, understanding, and hope.
Hosted in partnership between the 006th District Community Policing Office and Chicago Emerging Stars, this event was more than a discussion, it was a movement in motion.
The goal was simple: to create a safe, welcoming space with youth, for youth where their voices could lead the conversation. What unfolded was nothing short of transformative.
Throughout the evening, young people spoke courageously about what safety means to them in their schools, their neighborhoods, and their hearts. Officers and community members listened with openness and respect, proving that dialogue rooted in empathy can bridge even the deepest divides.
Because real safety doesn’t begin with fear it begins with listening.
It begins when we replace judgment with understanding and build connection instead of distance.
At Chicago Emerging Stars, that’s what we’re all about:
Creating spaces where young people feel heard, valued, and supported.
Building bridges between youth and community.
And leading with love, purpose, and possibility.
We’re deeply grateful to our partners at the 006th District Community Policing Office, to Leo High School for opening their doors, and to every young person who showed up ready to be real.
This night was more than an event; it was a reflection of what happens when we believe in each other.
This is the heartbeat of Chicago Emerging Stars real people, real purpose, real change.
